The Mark of a New Mom

Since becoming a new mom, I have:

1) Been late to almost everywhere I have plans to go to.

2) Gone to the mall in sweats and a baggy sweatshirt and NOT ON PURPOSE! The baggy sweatshirt was, but the sweatpants were a complete accident. I didn't even realize I as still in sweats until I was parking my car at the mall, looked down and thought, "Well, crud!"

3)Gone to Walmart without showering, with a mop of curly unwashed hair on top of my head and no make up (Grace was on a strike from napping that day, and so I wasn't able to shower until Ken got home.)

4) Wore my pants inside out in public. They were those black stretchy work out capri kind. In truth it wasn't all that bad. The only real give aways were the seams on the outsides of my leg and THE TAG HANGING OFF THE BACK. I only received one look, well two looks considering the woman did a double take.

Tell me I'm not the only new mom who does these sorts of things. This will pass, right?

One Month Old! (O.K. So Maybe We're Passed the One Month Mark. Oh Well:)

Now, I don't have much time to post this (Grace is sleeping), but I wanted to get this picture up on here before Grace hit the two month mark:

At this point she's really 6 weeks and a day:) You'll have to excuse me for being cliche here, but she really is growing up too fast! Already I'm dreading August and having to put her in daycare. Just the other day I went to put one of her "newborn" outfits on her and it no longer fit. Instead it was more like a belly shirt on her. I have very mixed emotions about this. On one hand, I look forward to her being more interactive (not to mention she has a lot of really cute 0-3 month clothes that she's slowly starting to fit into), and then on the other hand, I'd just like her to stay a newborn forever. Although possibly with Mom getting more sleep:) In truth, she has gotten so much better about sleeping at night (knock on wood). She still wakes up every three hours to eat, but she falls asleep right after, which is nice. We were going through a period there where Grace was confused and thought 2 a.m. was the most ideal time to be up and about. I'm crossing my fingers that blogging about this, doesn't jinx us:)

I Don't Believe an Accident of Birth Makes People Sisters or Brothers.

To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.
~Clara Ortega

Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk.
~Susan Scarf Merrell

I don't believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers. It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at.
~Maya Angelou

This is my wish for Fenix and Grace:

I hope that despite their age difference that they are the best of friends. I hope that they always support one another. They they share secrets. That as they grow older they share stories of their childhood, that they laugh at their parents (make fun of us even), I hope that they bring out the best in each other, that they be strong role models for each others' children, and that they never forget how precious and important their relationship is.

How lucky they are to have one another!
